No. 2 Alabama softball takes two from No. 24 Auburn

Point University announces football schedule

The Point University athletic department has officially released the Point Skyhawks 2012 football schedule. The Skyhawks will play a total of 11 regular season games, seven of which will be played on their home field. The schedule includes five NAIA schools, two NCAA D-III and two NCAA D-II opponents. The Skyhawks will begin their season with a pre-season scrimmage at home against Chattahoochee Tech on August 18.

This will be the first year the Skyhawks will be competing as a varsity sport and an official member of the National Athletic Intercollegiate Assoication (NAIA). They competed as a club program in 2011 and finished the season 2-5, highlighted by two victories at Rams Stadium. With the first game months away, the Skyhawks are already beginning to prepare for the season. Under the leadership of a new head coach, Kevin Porter, the Skyhawks have already signed numerous key acquisitions.

Spring practice for the Skyhawks will begin on March 12 as they begin laying the foundation for a successful season.

Auburn University to unveil Heisman statues at A-Day game

AUBURN—Auburn will unveil statues commemorating the school’s three Heisman Trophy winners, Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson, and Cam Newton, in a ceremony on Sat., April 14, at 10 a.m. CT prior to Auburn’s annual spring game, A-Day.


The ceremony will take place on the east side of Jordan-Hare Stadium, where each statue will be permanently located. Sullivan, Jackson and Newton are scheduled to be in attendance for the event.


Additional details of the Heisman statue unveiling will be provided at a later date.


Tickets for A-Day are currently available for $5 and may be purchased at Admission for Auburn University students is free with their Auburn Ignited card.
