The Alabama Sports Writers Association released its list of All-State football players for the 2014 season last week. There were several area players selected, but only one LaFayette team was represented on the rosters.
LaFayette High School’s Jatarvious Whitlow was selected to the All-State first-team as an athlete in Class 2A. Whitlow was the Bulldogs’ most dangerous weapon this past season, scoring in nearly every way possible.
Whitlow, a sophomore, led LHS in rushing yards, receiving yards, return yards and interceptions. He finished the season with 1,840 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 539 yards and three touchdowns, had 597 receiving yards and three scores, threw for two touchdowns and had three return touchdowns this season. He also had four interceptions and recovered a fumble on defense.
