Penton Raceway is set to host their first big regional event of the season this Saturday night. The NeSmith 525 Super Late Model Series is coming to town for a big 50-lap, $3,000-to-win feature event on May 17. This event will be the third race of the series’ 10-race schedule.
The 525 Super Late Model Series is billed as America’s most affordable super late model series. The racecars in the series are powered by the Chevrolet Performance CT 525 racing engine that is built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications, The engine is based off the LS3 production engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, the Chevrolet Camaro, and the Chevrolet SS.
Saturday’s 525 Series race at the 3/8-mile dirt oval will be the main event in a night that includes a full racing schedule with Limited Sportsman, Bandit and Hobby divisions all taking the track. The Crate Late Model division will not race, but those drivers can run in the Super Late Model Series event.
Pits and grandstands will open starting at 5 pm CST on Saturday. Admission to the pits is $35 for those ages 13 and above and $15 for those under 12. Grandstand admission is free for kids five and under, $5 for those ages 6-12 and $15 for those 13 and above.
